    I love you Erin
    4:58 am
Wow. Yesterday was Erin and my 6 month anniversary. It is amazing that we have been going out for so long. Yet it seems that the time has just flown by. It is an exhiliarating feeling, being with the person you want to spend the rest of your life with, and knowing that she feels the same way. I am happier with Erin than I have ever been in my life. My only regret is that it took us so long to realize how perfectly we fit together. We complement each other so exactly some times that it's scary. Even though it has been only 6 months, it somehow feels that we have always been together. I feel so at ease with her. I can talk about anything, and I know she will listen. We even finish each other's sentences at times. And who else can I recite episodes of simpsons with? All I can say is that which I said at our first kiss, way back at New Years: Wow. I love her so much, and am so happy knowing that she loves me too.

    "EMO"
Over the past few months, I have noticed the emergence of a new type of "music", known as Emo music. From what I can tell, it is music based on punk, but it is supposed to be amazing because the people who play it put so much emotion into their music. And the way it has gone, I have gotten the impression that the so called emo-kids and the nation of pop listeners in general have decided that if you know how to play your instrument well, you are automatically excluded from including emotion in your music. I read a review of black rebel motorcycle club and jimmy eat world (or jimmy eats it, as i like to call them) and they were lauded as the future of rock and roll because they play with such raw emotion. But I cannot escape the fact that they are just devoid of musical playing ability. After listening to Scenes From a Memory for the zillionth time, I was listening to the last track, Finally Free, and I thought about how amazingly emotional their music is. Not only are they all true virtuosos, but they have this elusive quality called "emotion" in their music. The same is true when I listen to a cerebral BOC song, or a wild Steve Vai solo. Watching them play, you can see how deeply involved in their music just by the expressions on their faces. I gave it a lot of thought, and concluded that those who can play their instruments better should automatically have more emotion in their music. First of all, they have devoted their lives to their instruments, proving that they have a profound love and understanding for them. Secondly, having such skill at their instruments should allow them to more adroitly articulate their emotions through their music. I don't know what I am trying to say. I guess I am just saddened that the spirit of rock and roll has been suppressed, allowing bands like linkin park to be called true rockers, while groups like Dream Theater remain largely unknown and unappreciated for their ability to blend their immense talents into music that can evoke such powerful emotions in a listener. Maybe I have misinterpreted the ideas behind the new "rock and roll". Or maybe, with the speed at which bands form and fade into obscurity, no one actually has time to learn how to play. Whatever is true, I hope beyond hope that one day our country will once again come to appreciate true musical ability.

Oh yeah, this also deserves an entry. The only thing good in fluids is Brian the Not-So-Foul making fun of the stupid kids who open their mouths and ask stupid questions. It's like they think that asking questions will get them a better grade in the class. But why would the professor give them better grades for being stupid? Go figure.

Current Music: LTE - When the Water Breaks (yeah, it's 17 min. long)

School is stupid isn't it? It always keeps us from having fun and going places and doing things. And midterms are stupider. Especially fluids midterms where the professor tells you it's going to be a completely conceptual test. I bet you he used to be a KGB agent from like east germany or something. He is so good at messing with our minds and making us think it's a trick question when it really isn't. Take this for example. On thursday, someone asked about a problem with a dam and moving water, "In this problem, does the hydrostatic pressure also have to be taken into account?" And our professor replied, "I'll get to that, but first I have a question for you: In this problem, do you think the hydrostatic pressure also has to be taken into account?" See what I mean? AAAAAAARRRRGGGGHHHH!!!!
